「美術館・わたしたちはみえている―日本に暮らす海外ルーツの人びと」は、2020年度、期間限定で足立区にオープン予定の「移住と移民・多文化社会」を考えるミュージアムです。

その館長であるアンディは「日本にいるいろいろなルーツの人びとの暮らしを知りたい」と、考えました。そうして、年齢、国籍問わず、みなさんから作品を大募集(2020年2月22日~5月22日)し、実際に集まった作品を 特設WEBサイト にて、一挙に公開しています。最新情報も随時、更新予定です。どうぞ、お楽しみに!

Art Museum • “Seeing Us: Living in Japan with Roots Overseas” that thinks about topics of migration, immigration and multicultural society, we plan to open in Adachi City for a limited time in 2020. Director Andy thought, “I want to know the lives of people with diverse roots in Japan.” With that, we held a large open call for artworks from everyone, regardless of age or nationality (between Feburary 22 to May 22, 2020).

Now, we present these artwork submissions all at once on the website ! We plan on updating our information on an ongoing basis, so please look forward to it!

「美術館・わたしたちはみえている―日本に暮らす海外ルーツの人びと」開催延期のお知らせ

　2020年8月から9月にかけて開催を予定していた「美術館・わたしたちはみえているー日本に暮らす海外ルーツの人びと」につきまして、オープンに向けて準備を進めておりましたが、開催を【延期】いたしましたのでお知らせします。

　延期と判断した主な理由といたしましては下記のとおりです。

・新型コロナウイルスの感染拡大防止に伴い、ご来場者様および関係者の安全確保を最優先する必要が生じた
・緊急事態宣言は解除されたものの、本展の開催に向けた関係各所との準備が十分に進んでいないまま開催に踏み切ることが困難である

　すでに多くの皆様からのご理解とご協力を得て準備が進められていたさなかでの今回の決定となり、事務局一同大変悔しい思いが大きいです。そして、何よりもご協力いただいている皆様、ならびに本展を楽しみにお待ちいただいている皆様へ深くお詫び申し上げます。
　このような決断に至り心苦しくもありますが、本企画をお待ちいただいているたくさんの皆様に足を運んでいただけるような企画になるよう、気持ちを改め、開催に向け準備を進めています。延期後の会期、会場等につきましては、政府および関係機関等の動向や社会状況を踏まえ判断いたしますので、何卒ご理解賜りますようお願い申し上げます。

　引き続き「美術館・わたしたちはみえている―日本に暮らす海外ルーツの人びと」実現に向け、お力添えいただければ幸いです。詳細は決まり次第お知らせいたしますが、延期の決定に伴い本企画の主宰である美術家・岩井成昭さんから、メッセージがございます。

私たちはこれまで、COVID-19の影響でさまざまな活動の自粛要請を受け、オリンピックとパラリンピックは延期され、それでも、まだ世界はパンディミックの終息には程遠く、一刻も早いワクチンの開発に望みをつないでいます。
経済も文化も教育も疲弊した中で、誰もが自身の身を守ることを優先しています。しかし、国内には既に280万人以上の在留外国人の方々が暮らしています。彼らの多くが、私たち以上に過酷な状態であることは想像に難くありません。突如としてやってきたこの苦難の時代に、しかし、このような時だからこそ、海外ルーツの方々の存在に光をあてるべきだと思います。私たちの企画において、彼らの存在の証を顕在化できるのは、文化とそれを土台にした表現を通してしかありません。展覧会の会期が延期されたことは、私たちに現状をもっとしっかりと見るべきだという啓示だと捉えています。彼らの生活に染みこんだ文化、文化から見えてくる生活、そして彼らの置かれている状況・・それらを今、理解しておくことは重要です。なぜなら、「私たち」は、共にコロナ以後の新たな世界を構築していかなければならないから。

[ Announcement of Postponement ] Art Museum • “Seeing Us: Living in Japan with Roots Overseas”

While we were in the midst of preparations for our Art Museum • “Seeing Us: Living in Japan with Roots Overseas”, scheduled to be held from August to September, 2020, it is with regret that we announce the postponement of this exhibition as part of our measures against the spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

・It was necessary for us to prioritize the health and safety of our participants and staff members in light of policies for the prevention and control of COVID-19.

・Although the declaration of emergency has been lifted. It is difficult to hold the exhibition without sufficient preparations.

All of us at our project office are sincerely regretful for this decision, knowing that our preparations were underway thanks to the cooperation of many people. We wish to extend our deepest apologies most of all to our generous collaborators and to everyone looking forward to this exhibition.

Although this is a painful decision, we are setting our sights on preparations for opening this exhibition so that those waiting can enjoy it in the future.

We continue to request your kind support towards realizing our Art Museum • “Seeing Us: Living in Japan with Roots Overseas”. Though we will announce further details as soon as they are decided, we have a message for everyone regarding this postponement from Shigeaki Iwai, artist and project director.

So far, due to the effects of COVID-19, we have been asked to refrain from various activities and the Olympic and Paralympic Games have been postponed. The world is still far from the end of this pandemic, and we are placing our hopes on the speedy discovery of a vaccine.
With the economy, culture and education impoverished, we are all prioritizing our own self-protection. However, there are already over 2.8 million foreign residents living in Japan. It isn’t difficult to imagine that many of them are experiencing more difficult circumstances than we are. It is precisely in times like this, during this sudden period of hardship, that I think we should shed light on the existence of people with roots overseas. In our project, it is only through expression, and the culture on which that expression is based, that we can make visible their existence. I believe that the fact that our exhibition period has been postponed means that we should take a closer look at current circumstances. The culture embedded in their lives, their lives as seen through a cultural lens, and the situation they have been put in… it is important that we understand these circumstances right now. This is because “we”, together, must build a new world after coronavirus.

Art Museum • “Seeing Us: Living in Japan with Roots Overseas” will be opened from August to September in 2020 for about 4 weeks, near the Daishimae train station in Nishiarai(Adachi City,Tokyo). This Art Museum scheme is one program of Immigration Museum Tokyo, which is an Art Project focusing on the daily lives of people living in Japan with roots overseas. In this Art Museum, Director Andy, the artist who has traveled the world is calling for your work!

西新井の会場に展示される数多くの作品の中から、いくつかのすてきな作品に賞状とお祝い金を贈呈します。

2020年2月22日（土）から5月22日（金）まで

【応募資格】
⑴ 日本国内在住で海外にルーツをもつ方
⑵ どんな国籍・ 年齢でもOK
こども・大人・学生・主婦・プロ・アマチュア等どんな年齢、お仕事の方でも応募可能
⑶ 個人、またはグループでの申し込みも可
（ただし、グループの場合、最低1名が応募資格⑴を満たしていること）
⑷ どんな作品でもOK

■イミグレーション・ミュージアム・東京（IMM東京）とは
在留外国人の日本での日常生活に焦点をあてたアートプロジェクトです。「ミュージアム」という名称でありながら施設を持たず、足立区の空き店舗や教会、古民家などを転々と移動しながら、そのとき限りの体験ができる展示やイベントを展開してきました。本企画は「アートアクセスあだち 音まち千住の縁」の一プログラムです。

Eligibility
1) Living in Japan and identifying with non-Japanese roots
2) All nationality and age are welcomed. Children, adults, students, homemakers, artists (professionals/amateurs)… everyone is free to apply.
3) We welcome applications from individuals or groups. (However, if you apply as a group, at least one member must meet eligibility⑴)
4) We accept artworks of all themes, genres and materials, including paintings, sculptures, photographs, videos, crafts, books and illustrations.

■About Art Museum • “Seeing Us: Living in Japan with Roots Overseas”
It is a museum which focus on relocation, immigration and multicultural society. It will be opened from August to September in 2020 for about 4 weeks, near the Daishimae train station in Nishiarai.
This program is part of the Immigration Museum Tokyo, which belongs to Art Access Adachi: Downtown Senju Connecting through Sound Art, an Art Project based in Adachi City.

■About Immigration Museum Tokyo (IMM Tokyo)
It is an Art Project which focus on the daily lives of people living in Japan with foreign roots. Although it is called a “museum”, the project does not own any facility. Rather, it operates by creating exhibitions and events in empty shops, churches and old houses in Adachi City. IMM Tokyo is one program of the Art project “Art Access Adachi: Downtown Senju Connecting through Sound Art.
